Our client, a multi-billion-dollar international manufacturing
organization, needs to hire an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager
for one of their manufacturing plants. Reporting to the Plant
Manager, this is the opportunity to be the sole/top EHS professional for
a medium-sized, unionized manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities include: EPA and OSHA compliance, internal auditing,
environmental, health and safety program development, training,
improving incident rates, improving the safety culture for the site,
reduction of Workers Compensation claims, environmental issues,
permitting and reporting, etc.
To be considered for this role, the following criteria must be met:
• Bachelors degree in Safety or related
• Strong EHS skills from manufacturing plants, prefer union plant
experience
• Compliance, training, reducing incident rates, air water & waste
environmental issues
• Must be able to reduce Workers Compensation claims
• Must be able to improve the Safety culture of the plant
• Must be an effective EHS Manager, in a sole contributor role
• Ties to the area would be a plus

We are looking for a professional with a successful background in
reducing risk and improving expense structure, relative to injuries,
worker’s compensation and improving productivity while assuring
compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Essential Duties:
- Develop plans and procedures for compliance with all Federal OSHA
regulations and EPA standards and State of Florida Regulations
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws and ordinances,
statutes, and regulations relative to safety standards
- Visit job sites consistently reviewing safety practices and compliance
in Metro Orlando, Jacksonville and Tampa. Recommend corrective
action to be taken as necessary, including up to termination of
employment
- Prepare incident and hazard reports as required. Maintain
accurate records of all accidents and mishaps related to all work
performed
- Conduct Safety Training sessions at each Air Flow Designs facility to
improve associate focus and awareness of rules, regulations and
requirements for continuing employment. Also maintains a Safety
Training log showing topics covered, dates and attendees
- Verify appropriate handling and compliance on all hazardous material
at job sites and warehouse facilities
- Provide feedback and recommendations to management team relative to
improving safety directives compliance
- Act as liaison with Safety Teams with our Builder Network and attend
meetings as required and provide feedback to management
- Establish Safety Goals and Worker’s Compensation Reduction Goals
annually
- Work with Air Flow Design’s insurance carrier to investigate all
accidents and make recommendations for change in policies where
appropriate
- Work with Air Flow Design’s insurance carrier, employee and medical
team to return injured employee to work as quickly as feasible.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Professional):
- Four year degree in Safety or related field preferred or minimum of 6
years in construction or installation safety position.
- With degree, minimum of 3 years in construction or installation safety
position with exposure to Worker’s Comp Insurance Claims and
Handlings.
- CSP and OHST certifications preferred
- Current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with little direct daily
supervision
- Knowledge of OSHA Regulations and EPA Standards
- Certification in OSHA 500/501 Course required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to
effectively communicate ideas and concepts.
- Must conduct all business activities in an ethical manner
