Automate blog content posting without spending a fortune

I'll cut to the quick here, and maybe add further details later if it's needed. If you've ended up on this page by accident and have no clue what I'm talking about, please read this post and the comments/discussion after it. If you know why you're here, read on...

This is a simple little script I made for posting content to my blogs automatically. It posts RSS content from other blogs. I won't bore you with a lot of pitch, but there are some things you'll want to know...

1. This script creates individual posts from each RSS feed item - Not just one post with the entire RSS feed in that post. Example: If one of your source RSS feeds has 15 new items in it, then this script will create 15 new posts for you from that feed. So, 10 feeds with 10 items each will result in you getting 100 new posts on your blog.

2. This script automatically pings for you - Each time a post is imported, the script will automatically send a ping out to the ping list you have configured in your WordPress setup.

3. This script automatically attributes and links to the originating content source. - This keeps your blogs ethical, legal*, and useful.

4. This script will put newly imported items into whichever category you define for it. - So you can put "dog" content into a "dogs" category, and "cat" content into a "cats" category, etc. If you don't define a category for the content - or you make a mistake when entering the category - the script will put it in your default Word Press category.

5. This script does not create duplicates. - It automatically checks your database to see if it already has an entry before importing it. If the entry already exists, it will move on to the next one instead of creating a duplicate.

6. This script is dead simple to use. - Just set up a links category in your WP blog, add links to it, define the link category in this script, upload the script, and run it. That's it. Nothing complicated, no permissions to set, nothing to activate, etc. When you want to add more source feeds, it's done in the links area of your WP Admin. When you want to change them, delete them, anything: It's all in your existing WP Admin.

Thank you so much for your autopost script. It works exactly as described, and has saved me a ton of time posting to my various blogs - and as they say, time equals money, so the more time you've saved me, the more money you've made me. (Not to mention the fact that your simple script does just about everything other much-pricier scripts do, at a fraction of the price.)

Never mind the fact that the software works like a charm -- it was also simple to install, even for a total non-techie like me. Did I say install? Heck, it was a simple copy-and-paste of my information, followed by a quick upload to my server -- I swear I was done with that and doing my first "auto-post" in less than ten minutes. Cool beans . . .

Requirements: Word Press version 1.5 or higher; A plain ASCII text editor like NoteTab; an FTP client or other way to upload the script; RSS or XML feeds.

NOTE: I have NOT tested atom or other types of content feeds with this script so those may not work. This script also does NOT do automated "blog and ping" of website URLs, nor does it currently import datafeed products. Those may or may not be added in the future.

Caveats, Disclaimers & Warnings: This script is for people who already know what auto blogging is about, and who want to try another option for a drastically lower price. The current "hot" tool online for doing this is RSS2Blog, and from all appearances: It's a damn good tool for the job. It costs about $250 though. There are also free scripts called reblog, and feed word press. Both work very much like mine does. I unfortunately, and others, have not been able to get them to work though, so I created this one. It's easy, elegant, and dead simple.

Now for some very important warnings...

1. I originally did not offer this through affiliates, but as of November 11, 2005, I am. If this script becomes too popular though, I'll start raising the price. I may remove it from the market entirely at any time.
2. I have not tested this script on every conceivable setup, so I cannot guarantee you won't run into oddities. If you find something though, I'll bend over backwards to get it fixed ASAP and get updates out to all buyers at no additional charge.
3. This script works wonderfully as is, so I don't plan on updating it. IF I do though, all previous buyers will get the upgrades for free. I may stop offering free upgrades at any time in the future.
4. I am in no way saying, guaranteeing, or otherwise implying that you will get X amount of income and/or X amount of traffic from this script.
