Hi, my name is Nathan De Stephano and I am a writer. You may or may not know me (actually I use a pseudonym for my novels) but what I am going to tell you will surely amaze you.

I dedicated my entire life to writing. I simply was not able to think about doing anything else in life. My biggest dream was to see my book(s) published. Nothing else.

At first I thought that it was going to be easy. After all, look at all the books around. There's plenty of space for everyone. Well, I was wrong.

I sent my manuscripts almost everywhere. I received some replies, a lot of empty promises and some strange proposals (like that I was supposed to pay all the printing costs... so what was the point?). There are a lot of reasons for that - being "not good at writing" the last of them, believe me. The market, printing costs, the competition and a lot of other factors make the difference between a published author and a author.

I was dead broke, lonely, depressed and I felt hopeless.

At a breaking point in my life, I decided that something was do be done. So I began massively researching and studying a way to print my book.

I spent days and months trying to figure out a way to get published - or at least publish myself without ruining my finances. At last, I "saw the light".

You know, today you have basically just three options available if you wish to see your book printed :

• Offset Publishing - The "classical" one. Just print 1000 copies (which is the minimum amount of copies required for offset printing in most cases - sometimes is more) and hand to the printing company about $10,000. If you can afford it, go for it.
  
• Digital Publishing -  Cheaper than offset printing thanks to a more optimized workflow, but expensive ANYWAY. Setup fees are even $1000. Cost per copy is seldom under $3, minimum order is usually at least 50 or 100 copies, color pages are always extra charged, and so on. You will not spend $10,000 like offset printing maybe, but be prepared to pay at least $3,000 for a first batch of books. This is a sum that many can't afford.
  
• Self-Publishing - You need a Bookbinding machine. With a manual Bookbinding machine, you simply need to print yourself the pages and the covers and then bind them manually. Sounds pretty fair.. but do you know that the cheapest binding machine around costs around $1800? If you ask me, that sounds a bit expensive for a machine that, at last, just keeps the pages together and adds some glue on the spine. It is also not convenient if you do not plan to print hundreds and hundreds of books and will require a lot of time to amortize itself. And often the results are very, very bad.
